We’re excited to introduce Senling Shu, our new Data Analyst! Learn more about her current role, career journey, and who she admires most.
Tell us about your new role at Holistic! What do you do? Who are you working with?
I am the new part-time data analyst and I will work mostly with the data team. My job is to apply data analytics methods to help companies assess, understand, and improve their employee DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) in the workplace.
We’re interested in learning more about your background. Can you tell us more about your career journey?
Before joining Holistic, I worked mostly as a research assistant in university labs that utilize computational methods to track and study social trends and human behaviors. My field of study lies within social science. Working as a part-time data analyst in Holistic is actually my first official job in the industry. I am very excited about beginning the new journey!
Let’s switch gears. What excites you about life? What gives you hope?
What excites me about life is that I am watching myself trying new things and learning from my mistakes so I can become a better person. What gives me hope is that I know when I try hard, I am getting closer to success.
Who is someone you admire?
The person that I admire is my dad. I admire his talent to quickly learn all the skills and knowledge he needed from scratch to help him succeed whenever he stepped into a completely unfamiliar situation. I also admire his ability to endure and recover from overloaded stress and his courage to challenge the impossible.
Do you have any hidden talents?
My hidden talent is that I am pretty good at singing!
Lastly, what do you do for fun?
In my free time, I usually binge-watch Tiktok videos and TV shows from Netflix.
