The Importance of the Inclusive Language Toolkit
Starting a conversation with employees, family, or friends surrounding matters of racial and gender inequity can be difficult. It’s even more difficult when you feel you do not have the available resources to maximize your own awareness first. We’ve put together a comprehensive (but dynamic) list of language to start the conversation regarding the complexities of inequity in the world.
The terminology toolkit is handy to learn phrases or terms about identity that may come up in current conversation, such as tokenism, intersectionality, or even the significance of the phrase “Black Lives Matter.” It offers tips on how to initiate a conversation about diversity and inclusion as well as recommendations on implementing “people first” phrasing into your vocabulary.
Check out Holistic’s Inclusive Language Toolkit here. We encourage you to share it with your employees or anyone you feel would benefit from learning more about the terminology of inclusion.
