Who's Doing it Well? ShopRunner's Playlist

One of the most frequent questions we receive — and try and answer at Holistic — is “Who is doing it well?” It’s always been really informative to hear the good ideas others have. After all, as we say, there’s no IP in inclusion. This feature will highlight creative ideas from other companies. Check out the whole list here or submit your own suggestion below.

ShopRunner’s Shelter in Place “feel good dance party” playlist.

Who: ShopRunner, an e-commerce platform that guarantees two-day delivery from a host of valued merchants.

What’s the big idea 💡: In the midst of coronavirus, ShopRunner (organized by the inimitable Lindsay Verstegen) crowdsourced a Spotify “keep your spirits up” playlist from their team, and then open-sourced it.

Why it works: it’s fun, free, easy, and everyone is already listening to music anyway. So collecting the list is efficient and because Spotify allows you to save a playlist so easily, it’s easily accessible to others. By having individual ShopRunner employees submit songs, it’s also an act of inclusion internally — so much better than if one person had made the list on their own

(Not so) hidden value: Your Spotify playlists are like your mixtapes used to be — there are only so many of them and you probably remember the story behind each of them. So this is valuable real estate — and now ShopRunner is going to be brought to mind every time you’re going for a run or looking for your “Christmas ONLY MARIAH!!!!” tunes. So it functions as a powerful employee attraction / employee brand tool as well.

TL/DR: ShopRunner made a playlist.
