#ThreeTips: Choosing the Correct Employee Benefits

We have launched a new series for our blog titled #ThreeTips. We are in search of Three Tips from our friends in the business community for their creative, actionable, and positive ideas about important topics in the employee experience.

In collaboration with Victoria Grant of Centro.

Offering benefits to your employees is important because it shows them you are invested in not only their overall health, but their future. A solid employee benefits package can help to attract and retain talent. Benefits can help you differentiate your business from competitors. Take a look at these three tips when trying to identify and implement the correct benefits for your organization.

  1. Survey your employees to get a pulse on what struggles they may have to find out where and how the organization can help. This makes your employees feel valued and cared for.

  2. Communicate the results back to the organization. Communication is key in developing relationships with your employees. This shows employees that you’ve listened to their concerns.

  3. Create short and long term actions. Keep your budget in mind but consider all of your options to really set employees up for success. Employees who feel valued result in increased productivity and engagement.

Depending on the type of organization and the job, employee benefits may be quite different. For example, government employee benefit packages for full-time employees look very different from the packages offered to part-time employees. Employee benefits packages are typically discussed during the final interview or at the time an offer is extended. The right benefits package can give you a distinct advantage in competitive recruiting situations.
